At the moment, two study groups are active within Anéla in a subfield of Applied Linguistics: the study group 'discourse analysis' (AWIA) and the 'network of second language acquisition research' (NOTT). On this website, you can read more about activities of both study groups. It is possible to start up new study groups. For members who are interested in doing so, you can get in touch with the board. AWIA Anéla Study Group Discourse Analyis (AWIA) The Anéla study group discourse analysis (AWIA) has been established in order to improve the contact between researchers in the field of discourse analysis. In order to reach this goal, a discussion board has been put up on the Anéla website, and there are occasional so-called data sessions. In addition, there are ad hoc activities, for example, the organising of the springtime conference day 2007 'in gesprek'. The AWIA committee consists of Christina Englert (RUG) as chair, and Henrike Padmos (RUG) and Keun Sliedrecht (VU) as members. Questions about AWIA can be sent to

Network of Second Language Acquisition Research (NOTT) What is the Network of Second Language Acquisition Research? The NOTT is a study group of Anéla that has been established in order to improve the informal contact between researchers in the field of second language acquisition within the Netherlands, and in order to bundle information about researchers and projects in this field. Activities of the network are different from other Anéla activities because they are only focused on a subfield of applied linguistics, namely second language acquisition research. We do not in particular engage in the topics of language education, sociolinguistics, company communication and the like. Wherever there is overlap with other subfields, activities of the NOTT will be focused on aspects of language acquisition or implications of the study in question with respect to theories of language acquisition. Anyone doing research in or anyone interested in second language acquisition can subscribe to the network by sending an email to

. Membership of NOTT does not involve extra costs. If you subscribe, you will be added to our e-mail list. If you yourself are a researcher in the field of second language acquisition, you will be asked to provide us with some information for the website. You can also indicate that you only want to keep informed of our activities. |
